Faculty & Staff Resources

From advising to transfer credit and grading, there are lots of resources faculty and staff can use to help our students.

CAMPUS RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS

Additional resources on campus can help students with specific needs:

ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER Offers free tutoring, peer coaching, academic coaching and group study sessions.
DISABILITY SERVICES Resources for campus accessibility, academic accommodations, advocacy, academic coaching, support services and peer tutoring.
THE KLOOSTER CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN WRITING Offers seminars and workshops throughout the year, directs students to resources that can help, offers individual half-hour sessions with writing assistants, and collaborates with Van Wylen Library Research Librarians to provide assistance and instruction across the entire research and writing process.
PRE-HEALTH PROGRAMS Advisors that can help students navigate the process of applying to a graduate health program after Hope.
HOPE COLLEGE CATALOG If you are advising an undecided student interested in a major outside of your department, the Hope College Catalog lists information about majors and minors offered within each department and suggested sequencing of courses. You could also direct the student to speak to a faculty member within that department.
BOERIGTER CENTER Provides assistance with major and career assessment and selection, the job search, job interviews, resume and cover letters, graduate school planning and internships.
OFF-CAMPUS STUDY Offers information and assistance to all students interested in off campus study.
COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (CAPS) Counseling services are oriented toward education, specialty services, crisis intervention and short-term counseling. Group sessions are also offered on a variety of topics.
CENTER FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION Offers support and celebration of racial and ethnic diversity and academic excellence, providing educational and developmental opportunities aimed at preparing all members of the campus and community to thrive in a diverse and global world.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT Oversees many of the offices on this list and can assist students with questions regarding residential life, student activities, behavior and judicial issues, etc.
HEALTH CENTER Can provide health services to any Hope student who is registered for the current semester as a degree seeking student.
CAMPUS MINISTRIES Chaplains are available to listen, discern and pray regarding any issue, circumstance or question.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND FERPA

Maintaining the confidentiality of students’ records is everyone’s responsibility — because it’s the right thing to do and because the federal government requires it through FERPA. This includes, but is not limited to, grading, student information in plus.hope.edu and B-lite, training student workers who will work with student information and use of student data for research or departmental purposes.

Please read a full explanation about confidentiality for faculty and staff on the FERPA page.
