Student Communications
Student mail manager and inHope are great options for reaching out to large groups of students.
If you need to contact students in your course, you can obtain an email list from your plus.hope.edu account. Students should be BCC'd to maintain privacy.
Studentmail (studentmailmgr@hope.edu) is for sharing information with larger groups of students. We can forward emails to students based on class standing, declared major or minor, or pending graduation status. The groups being targeted must be in compliance with FERPA guidelines. News and information can be shared with all students via the semi-weekly “This Week at Hope” student email newsletter. A form to submit information for this newsletter appears on inHope.
Studentmail content should be directly related to Hope College news and events only. This can include announcements and opportunities of interest to students. Job postings should be posted to Handshake. Internship postings should go through the Boerigter Center.
Information shared through Studentmail must come from current Hope College faculty or staff members. Student groups wishing to share announcement and event details may do so through their group advisor or group Hope email account.
Political opinions, surveys, product promotions from non-Hope College owned entities, editorialization regarding campus policies, events or groups, and explicit material will not be distributed.
Submissions may occasionally be edited for clarity and length. A news item may be shared no more than two times. Other ways to share are through inHope, flyers or announcements in classes.
To send an email through Studentmail, pre-format your email and subject line in your Hope account. At the top of the body of the email, indicate which students should receive the email. If you want to include an attachment, please link to a document that has been shared from your Google Drive. Send the email to studentmailmgr@hope.edu.
We will do our best to forward the email within one business day. Urgent messages will be sent at the discretion of the Registrar's Office. Due to a recent change in our emailing system, we are no longer able to copy you (the sender) on forwarded emails.
Emails directed to faculty and staff must be sent through Hope Daily. Emails directed to all students must be sent through “This Week at Hope.”
