Online Portals

plus.hope.edu, B-lite and Moodle help you manage your classes and students’ information online.

STUDENT INFORMATION AND FERPA

The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guarantees protection of students’ educational records. All faculty and staff should be aware of these regulations and keep them in mind when accessing and using student information.

If a student has a confidentiality hold, absolutely no information may be given out or verified to anyone without the student’s express permission.

ONLINE PORTALS

Online resources for faculty and staff are listed in the accordions below. Your plus.hope.edu and B-lite log in information is the same. You should have received your log in information with your Hope employee welcome packet.

Any student appearing on your plus.hope.edu, B-lite or Moodle class lists is registered for your class. If you have given a student permission to drop the class but they still appear on your list, it means the student has not come into the Registrar’s Office to make the change. When a student withdraws from your class, they still appear on class lists, but their status is listed as “withdrawn.”

Department Assistants: departmental plus.hope.edu/B-lite log in information is generally kept within the department (not given upon hire). Contact the Registrar’s Office if no one in your department has the login information.

plus.hope.edu

plus.hope.edu is the self-service system used by students for registration and managing their student accounts. Faculty and advisors use it to enter grades, see their class lists, see advisees’ unofficial transcripts and run degree audits. Department Assistants can use the departmental log in to view class lists for the entire department.

DEGREE AUDITS FOR YOUR ADVISEES

Degree audits are an important part of helping students stay on track to graduate. They are also an important tool for selecting courses for registration and should always be used during your pre-registration advising meetings.

To access a degree audit for one of your advisees, log into your plus.hope.edu account and navigate to Faculty and Advisors > Student Information Menu > Degree Works for Advisors.

It will automatically load the Worksheet (audit) of your first alphabetical advisee. You can see a list of all your advisees in the dropdown menu on the top left, and choose a different advisee by selecting their name. You can also use the Find button to search for an advisee.

If you have more than 100 advisees, you will receive an error message and the system will load only 100 random students into the dropdown. Use the Find button to search for an advisee not listed in the dropdown.

If your selected advisee is pursuing two degrees, they will have two different audits. You can switch between them by selecting from the “Degree” dropdown menu next to their name.

Here are some basics about how it works (details on the Degree Works page):

  • The Worksheet is the standard degree audit. Within the Worksheet, there are three views: Student View (standard, detailed view), Graduation Checklist (a simple view of what has been completed and what has not), and the Registration Checklist (a list of only what still needs to be completed).
  • The What If option allows you to see the audit based on a potential new major or minor.
  • Look Ahead allows you to temporarily add a future course to see how it would affect the audit.
  • The GPA Calculator has three options (Graduation, Term or Advice).

When you are done using Degree Works, you can use the “Back to plus.hope.edu” link at the very top of the page to return to plus.hope.edu. Or, you can close the window, and you will be automatically logged out.

B-LITE

B-lite is mainly for departments and advisors, but can also be used by faculty to see class lists.

  • Advisors can see details about their advisees
  • Faculty can see their class lists
  • Departmental log ins can see names and basic information about majors and minors within your department, pending graduates (have applied to graduate) and class lists
MOODLE

Moodle is an optional assignment/class material management system. You can use it to give and receive assignments, post supplemental materials or the syllabus, post grades, and see photos and basic information about your students. Students in the class can only see their classmates’ photos and names in Moodle, not others’ grades or any other personal information.

Any assignments and grades you give outside of Moodle will not appear on Moodle unless you enter them in manually. Midterm and final grades are submitted through plus.hope.edu, and therefore do not show up in Moodle unless you enter them into Moodle.

You can find more information about the features of Moodle by going to the HELP menu on the Moodle log in page.
