FALL BREAK

Hope residential communities are open during fall break. For emergency purposes we ask that you register by completing the Break Sign-Up Form if you will be sleeping on campus during fall break. You will get a confirmation of your response, but no additional approval communication is needed.   

Phelps Dining will be open during fall break for limited hours. Visit the Dining Services website for updated hours and information.

THANKSGIVING BREAK

Hope residential communities are open during Thanksgiving break!  For emergency purposes we ask that you register by completeing the Break Sign-Up Form if you will be sleeping on campus during Thanksgiving break. You will get a confirmation of your response, but no additional approval communication is needed.

Hope College meal plans will not be in effect during Thanksgiving break. Phelps Dining will be open shortened hours on Tuesday, November 25.  All dining will be closed November 26 through November 30 lunch.  Phelps only will reopen Sunday, November 30 for dinner from 5-7pm. Students are responsible for making their own arrangements for food during this time. 

Break Sign-Up Form 

SEMESTER (CHRISTMAS) BREAK

Hope residential communities close for semester (Christmas) break starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025. All residents are expected to be out of their respective living unit by this time, unless they have received approval from Residence Life.

To request Late Stay permission, students will need to submit a Late Stay Request Form.  This form can be found in the students Hope Housing Portal under Early Arrival/Late Stay Request.

A late stay request is any time between Friday, December 12, and Sunday, December 31. An early arrival request is from Wednesday, January 1, through Monday, January 5, 2026.

• All late stay requests need to be submitted by: Sunday, December 7, 2025 by 5 p.m.
• All early arrival request need to be submitted by: Monday, January 5, 2026 by 5 p.m.

If your request is not submitted by this time, it could be denied or assigned a late fee of $50.
Requests will not be processed during the campus shutdown between Wednesday, December 24, 2025 and  Sunday, January 4, 2026.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SUBMIT AN REMAIN LATE REQUEST

• Log into your Hope Housing Portal
• Select "Early Arrival / Late Stay Request" 
• Select "Fall 2025"
• Complete all fields and click "Submit Request"

Your request will be reviewed and you will receive an decision email.

WINTER BREAK

Hope residential communities are open during winter break. For emergency purposes we ask that you register by completing the Break Sign-Up Form if you will be sleeping on campus during winter break. You will get a confirmation of your response, but no additional approval communication is needed. 

Phelps Dining will be open during winter break for limited hours. Visit the Dining Services website for updated hours and information.

SPRING BREAK & EASTER BREAK

Hope residential communities are open during Spring Break and Easter Break. For emergency purposes we ask that you register by completing the Break Sign-Up Form if you will be sleeping on campus during these breaks. You will get a confirmation of your response, but no additional approval communication is needed.

Hope College meal plans will not be in effect during Spring Break and Easter Break. Phelps Dining will close early for dinner on Thursday, March 26, and remain closed through breakfast on April 6. Shortened and limited services at Phelps only for lunch and dinner on April 6. Students are responsible for making their own arrangements for food during this time.
