Hope College’s Carli Capestany has been selected the MIAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for meets played through April 26.
The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), tied a Hope single-season record for doubles victories while teaming up with sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over Trine last week as the Flying Dutch clinched an outright league championship.
Capestany now has a 24-5 record in doubles this season and has tied the school record for doubles wins in a single season.
Capestany also had a straight-set win at No. 2 singles against Trine 6-1, 6-3, to improve her singles record for the season to 20-5.
Capestany is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career.
