Integrative Learning is Hope’s home to programs that intentionally merge the education that takes place in and out of the classroom with students’ prior knowledge, skills and experiences.

Integrative Learning Activities

Each Integrative Learning program is designed for students from different backgrounds and majors to engage a common theme with faculty and staff over the span of weeks, an academic year or the breadth of their college experience. Together they make discoveries, develop skills and deepen their understanding of themselves, others and the world.

It’s possible to participate in more than one program, and some common Integrative Learning experiences are:

  • Service learning and community service projects
  • Professional development, leadership, and college student success workshops
  • Community-building retreats
  • Shared college courses with other participants
  • Traveling on off-campus trips to cultural events and centers
  • Visiting local festivals and community events
  • Attending Spring Break Immersion Learning trips
  • Living in the same residence hall as other participants
  • Celebrations and banquets
